Service

Ghost Mannequin Service

Invisible mannequin editing that shows the true shape, fit and inside of your garments, with neck joints and inner labels.

Ghost Mannequin Service - after Before After

Ghost mannequin editing, also called invisible mannequin or neck joint, removes the mannequin from apparel photos so the garment looks as if it is being worn by an invisible person. Buyers see the real shape, fit and drape, plus the inside of the collar and the label, without the distraction of a plastic dummy.

To make it work, you usually shoot two images: one of the garment on the mannequin, and one of the inside back (the neck area) with the garment turned or laid flat. We remove the mannequin, place the inside image into the neckline, match the perspective and lighting, and blend it so the join cannot be seen.

It is a detailed job and the quality varies a lot between providers. A good ghost mannequin image has symmetrical shoulders, a believable inner neck, clean edges and the same colour inside and out.

What our ghost mannequin service includes

  • Mannequin removal from garment photos
  • Neck joint from a separate inside shot
  • Sleeve and hem joints for tops, jackets and dresses
  • Symmetry correction for shoulders and collars
  • Background removal to white or transparent
  • Crease and lint clean-up
  • Colour matching between shots
  • Consistent sizing across a collection

Who it is for

Online clothing stores

Invisible mannequin shots show shape and fit better than flat lays and look more uniform than model shots.

Marketplaces

Amazon, Zalando-style marketplaces and ASOS-style catalogues favour consistent apparel imagery.

Wholesale line sheets

Buyers can compare styles quickly when every piece is shown the same way.

Uniform and workwear suppliers

Show collars, pockets and embroidery clearly.

Print-on-demand brands

Clean ghost shots make perfect bases for design mock-ups.

How we make sure it looks right

The neck is where ghost mannequin work succeeds or fails. We align the inside shot to the curve of the collar, correct perspective so the inner back looks deep enough, and add subtle shadow so it has depth. If the label is visible, we keep it straight and legible.

We also fix what the camera exaggerates: a slightly twisted hem, uneven shoulders or a gap where the mannequin pulled the fabric. The aim is a garment that looks well-pressed and honest, not altered.

How it works

  1. Shoot and upload. Send the on-mannequin shot and the inside shot for each item. Not sure how to shoot it? Ask us for tips.
  2. Check pairs. We match each front with its inside shot and confirm price and timing.
  3. Remove and join. Editors remove the mannequin and build the neck or sleeve joints.
  4. Finish. Background, symmetry, creases and colour are finished to your spec.
  5. Deliver. Files are named and sized to match your store.

Turnaround and file formats

Delivery time depends on the number of images and how complex they are, so we confirm a firm deadline with every quote rather than promising a one-size-fits-all number. Rush delivery is available for many jobs; just ask when you send your files.

We accept JPG, PNG, TIFF, PSD, HEIC, WebP and most camera RAW formats (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, DNG). You choose the output: high-quality JPG, transparent PNG, layered PSD, TIFF or WebP, in sRGB for web or another colour profile for print. We keep your file names and folder structure so the edited files drop straight back into your workflow.

Preparing your files

  • Send the largest, sharpest version you have. We can always size down, but we cannot add detail that is not there.
  • Tell us where the images will be used (Amazon, your own store, print, social) so we export the right size.
  • Include one finished example or a reference image if you have a particular style in mind.
  • Share large batches by Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer or a similar link.

Why hand editing still matters

Automatic tools are fast, and for some jobs they are good enough. The trouble is that they make the same small mistakes again and again: soft edges where there should be crisp ones, missing gaps, colour fringes, and details that quietly disappear. On a thumbnail you might not notice. On a zoomed product page, a printed catalogue or a large banner, customers do. Our ghost mannequin work is done by trained editors who look at every edge and every surface, and who can make judgement calls a tool cannot, such as what belongs to the product and what is just a reflection or a speck of dust.

Our quality checklist

  • Every image is checked at 100% zoom, not just as a thumbnail.
  • Edges are reviewed on contrasting backgrounds to catch halos and stray pixels.
  • Colour is compared with the original so the product stays true to life.
  • Sizing, margins and naming follow the brief for the whole batch.
  • A second editor signs off each file before delivery.

Large and recurring orders

If you have a big catalogue or a regular flow of new products, we set up a short style guide with you on the first order covering background, margins, shadows, file size and naming. Every later batch follows it, whichever editor works on it, so your images stay consistent month after month. Regular clients also get volume pricing and a predictable delivery schedule agreed in advance, which makes it easier to plan product launches and seasonal drops.

Pricing

Every image is different, so we price ghost mannequin by complexity and volume. Send a few samples and we will reply with a clear per-image quote before you commit to anything. See our pricing page for how quotes work.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need two photos per garment?

For a full neck joint, yes. Without an inside shot we can still remove the mannequin, but the neckline will be shown as a hollow or filled with matching fabric.

Can you do trousers and skirts?

Yes, including waistband joints.

What about flat lay images?

We edit flat lays too: background, shape, creases and colour.

Will colours match my real product?

We match to the reference you provide. Shooting with a colour checker helps a lot.

Can you process a whole collection consistently?

Yes. We set a template for margins and alignment and apply it across every item.

How should I shoot for ghost mannequin?

Use a mannequin with removable neck and arm pieces, even lighting and a fixed camera position.

Can I try the service before paying?

Yes. Send a few images through our free trial and judge the quality yourself, with no card needed.

Are my images kept private?

Yes. Your files are used only to complete your order and are not shared or used in our portfolio without your written permission.
